We had the good fortune of connecting with Chandra “Cece” Heath and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chandra “Cece”, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I would have to say watching my grandfather’s brother who was an Army veteran behavior as a young child . Not realizing why his behavior was the way it was at the time. I would walk in as a child and say Hi uncle John and he would just look up at me and look back down . Smoke his cigarettes w/ leg cross rocking back and forth rubbing on one ear until he was told that it was bad time. I would ask my grandmother what was wrong she would just say baby some people handle being release from the military differently. What I didn’t know I would be a an caregiver of my father who was an ex Marine at the age of 18 and so it began…

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I ‘m the founder of a non profit veteran minority owned business here in Houston/Katy. Where our organization help veterans & their families with (financial assistance – rent, utilities ,gas cards, registration for their vehicle ,oil changes ,small house hold items as well as personal hygiene items) Soon we’ll be offering a community baby shower to our military families and Adult day care center in Katy ,TX. It wasn’t easy a lot of people felt I wouldn’t understand what they were going through due to the fact I never served. I had conversations where I explained that I know how i is to be a 18 yr old newlywed . Who had no clue about the VA and benefits that were for my father . Explained to our local veterans and others that I feel people tend to forget about the caregivers, spouses and kids of the veterans we’re the ones that our the glue that holds it all together. In most cases we place our life on hold because we’re focused on the veteran we’re caring for at that time. I want the world to know to be mindful to not only our veterans but also the people caring for them. Also, I’ve heard for years that some people feel that veterans don’t need any assistance because they think they’re wealthy (NOT TRUE). One day take the time to listen and have a conversation with veterans in your community see what is actually needed ..it may surprise you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow this is hard.. It would depend on if I wanted to go out it would have to be Phil & Dereks, Papa Gyros , Black BearDiner, The Galleria , Demi Cruz Studio,Reborn Med Spa Discover Houston Art, Sapore Ristorante Italiano,,Club 2020,Seasons52, Balmoral Crystal Clear Lagoon& Beach Club. The Escape Game. Room in Houston , ErmaRose LLC in Katy now if we want to relax a day out the week I would call our favorite chef Natosha w/ 2/10 Fusion and grab dessert in Pearland at Cake Dream Bakery . Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say my Grandmother Ms, Dorothy “Dot ” Porter from Clayton, Alabama along with my cousin Tyquese “Fefe” Pratt who is currently retired from the Army. Watching my grandmother care for all of her grand and. great grands while working as a nurse at a local hospital for over thirty years. While our parents who were single mothers rather it was by divorce or unexpectedly becoming a widow. Really should be how to be compassionate & Loving to others. Both ladies should me whatever. you may experience from your past or how others may treat you ..you have the right to make a decision to love them from a far and that you should protect your peace at all cost. No matter what to love yourself and know that you’re stronger than what you may be believe.
