We had the good fortune of connecting with Jetrice Gardner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jetrice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I originally had the thought to begin T.E.O.W.| The Empowerment Of Women, Inc., I knew I wanted to provide services and resources for young girls. I want young girls to know there is more in the world than being a rapper, or a social media model. I want to expose young girls to a world filled with unlimited possibilities.
What should our readers know about your business?
T.E.O.W. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Houston, TX. We were established October 2018. Our mission is to empower women of all ages and creeds by showing them the importance of loving themselves first by bringing awareness, educating and providing tools necessary to excel. We concentrate on the areas of: Personal Development, Financial Literacy, Foster the participation in S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), and the eight areas of Health and Wellness.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to travel and I am a foodie at heart. I would suggest my favorite hotel, the Post Oak Hotel, for accommodations as well as a few dining options. Houston is a melting pot of cultures, and we have plenty of restaurants to select from, but my top restaurant options are, but not limited to:
Goode Company Seafood on Westpark
Maestro’s
Secret Garden
MAD Houston
Crawfish and Beignets
Tepatitlan Mexican Grill
Hu’s Cooking
Vargas Cut & Catch
Creamistry
Caliente
Georgia’s Catfish Kitchen
Central Market’s Dining
For places to hang out, I would recommend The Color Factory, The Botanic Gardens, Pinstripes, a quick day trip to Austin to the Miraval Resort Spa, The Health Museum, Boardwalk FantaSea Dinner Cruise, and Anya Tish Gallery. To meet interesting and exciting people, I would suggest volunteering for the day with TEOW or attending an event.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like like to make a dedication to all the volunteers, our partners, and donors for supporting our mission.
