We had the good fortune of connecting with Keila Arriola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keila, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started healing, feeling empowered, my mindset changed. My goals and dreams changed, I had pictured myself just being a housewife, mother until my children were all gone, maybe I would decide what to do. This changed when I notice myself having new dreams and goals, planning on growing in my husband’s business, to starting my own.
I notice that as women and mothers, there is a lot going on for us. We always put ourselves last, when I started to heal and take care of myself, I noticed having a better relationship with my husband and my firstborn. I notice myself motivating and planning a better future for my husband and me in his business, our side business, and now myself starting my Life Coaching business.
But I noticed many women still living like I did, putting ourselves last, having stressful days, anxiety, depression, tired. That is when I decided to become a Life Coach and help moms put themselves first and VOW to become Valiant Outstanding Women.
It takes courage to put ourselves first because then we get judged that we are selfish, that we ‘have’ to attend to our husband, then kids, home, and putting out needs last. It should not be like this at all.
If we are doing well, our family will be doing well.
If we are at our best, our work/business will be at our best.
If we love and respect ourselves, we love and respect others.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am different from others because I speak the truth about my feelings and story. We all go through trials and tribulations, and speaking about it helps me heal and think. When I speak up, I notice more women doing so and then learning that we all go through it, they were just afraid to speak about it. They thought they were alone in the same feelings.
The thing I am most proud of is combating my fear of organizing and executing a networking event. My fears got the best of me, I was “pushed” to hosting one. I did not expect many women to go. During the transition of days before the event, God showed me in many different ways he was with me.
On the day of the event, once again God showed me he was with me, more than 50 women attended my event, for being my first one ever. I felt very proud of myself for not letting my fears win.
It has not been easy from being a stay-at-home mom, working for my husband to doing something for myself has been very scary. This has been one of the few things I have done for myself, on my own and it had been so challenging with my fears and thought and imposter syndrome.
Other than prayer, I had to sit down and control my thought. Your thoughts create your results. I had to calm myself, and write down the pros of my event, we tend to just go with the cons first, which then wins and we don’t do anything.
Then when I was afraid, I felt the support of new friendships I have made along the way, from the speakers to the vendors to the sponsors. It was amazing.
I have learned to trust in God and your thoughts create your results, manifest the positives and it will become true!
My story to my business is, we tend to make promises to everyone else and not ourselves.
VOW to be Valiant Outstanding Women, love yourself, take care of yourself, manifest to yourself and you will make great things happen!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Kemah boardwalk would be a place to go have fun and try some restaurants. Stay there the weekend and enjoy some activities.
I am still learning about new places myself, so trying anything new for me would be great too!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a lot of shoutouts for my efforts, support, mentorship, love, and encouragement.
My daughter Leah, for always asking questions, that at the time I took it as “talking back and being disrespectful”. She is my firstborn and with her, I always go through new experiences.
Rachel Hollis, author, motivational speaker. I read her book ‘Girl, Stop Apologizing’ I realized I needed to stop caring for everyone else but myself, my wants and needs.
Sam Laura, personal development blogger and mindset coach. I joined her coaching group when I realized I needed to keep changing and her helping me go for my Life Coaching career.
My husband, even though at the beginning he was a bit skeptical about it because he didn’t fully understand what and how a Life Coach can help, he still supported me.
Naason Joaquin Garcia, my church leader, Apostle of Jesus Christ. He is my father in faith, he is the one to pray for me on a daily basis and more than 3 times a day. He constantly motivated us to better ourselves, career-wise, health-wise, mentally, family-wise. To open our own businesses, to learn new languages. Because of him is why my husband started his business. I help manage his business, I started taking courses for administrative assistants and many more courses.
Last but not least, the most important, God, he sent the Apostle of Jesus Christ, he worked in my heart, we had mercy of my soul, he rescued me. He gave me my family, my husband, and my kids. He gives me life, he has given me intelligence. I am here because of him. ALL glory to GOD!
