Meet Chloe Jacobs: Curriculum Specialist and Education Consultant, Artist, Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chloe, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
At least once every few months, I (as many other entrepreneurs), get into a headspace of wanting to give up. I get overwhelmed in administrative tasks, legal obligations, financial woes, crazy schedules, etc. Entrepreneurship can take a toll on your physical and mental health, your family, friendships, romantic relationships, etc. But the feeling of helping others, accomplishing goals, financial freedom, a purpose-driven life, and living your dreams is what makes it all worth it. When I am battling the thought of closing one or more of my businesses, I think about my “why”. My daughter, her future, the young women who are following my example– don’t allow me to give up. Even when I may have mentally or verbally quit, the thought of my “why” keeps me going!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an education professional, I believe what sets me apart is the understanding that I am a learner before I am an educator. Remaining in the role of a learner allows you to be open to being novice, to trying, to reading, to yearning for knowledge and wisdom. To grow and continue to stay sharp, you must be willing to adapt and try new things. Getting to where I am professionally has not been an easy task. I have been told “no” or that I could not do something so many times! Discipline and perseverance have taken me through those tougher moments, and risk-taking has put me into positions that I could not have even imagined for myself. Throughout my career, I have learned to stay humble, be kind, and work hard! Integrity and faith will take you anywhere. The biggest thing that i would want others to know is that I am not special. There is nothing within me that is not within anyone else. If I can take chances, be diligent, and push through to accomplish my dreams and goals– so can they!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Luckily, Houston is the 4th largest city in the nation! We’d definitely visit lots of restaurants– Ritual, State of Grace, Bisou, Lucille’s, Steak 48, Grace’s Brennans, Texas de Brazil are a few of my favorites– yet there’s no way we could experience Houston food without What-a-Burger! It’s my go-to! In the evenings, I love a nice, chill environment. Some of my favorite spots to relax and have a drink with friends are The Sugar Room, Marfreless, The H Bar, Blancos and Tequilas, and Cafe Mawal. One place we’d have to experience for the first time together is The Secret Garden, I have been dying to get there! And for some interesting adventures, I love the museum district, the animals at the zoo, Bayou Wildlife Park, and any park/beach area where we can relax, people watch, and take in nature.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am who I am because of others! My faith, parents and siblings play the largest role in me becoming the woman that I am. Aside from their encouragement– they support every single one of my shenanigans! My mentors Chloe Cook and Christopher Senegal have opened so many doors for me, and provided me with so many opportunities– based from their belief in what I am capable of. Their effort, patience, and kindness is something that I will never forget. The Bible, Think and Grow Rich, Outwitting the Devil, Rich Dad Poor Dad, How to Win Friends and Influence People, You 2: A High Velocity Formula for Multiplying Your Personal Effectiveness in Quantum Leaps, and so many other books have inspired and informed my journey. I could literally go on and on, because nothing about this journey is based on my sheer will or skill!
