We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Dholi Deep and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ Dholi, what do you attribute your success to?
To never give up. No matter what you do for a living, there will be struggles, but you always have to have a positive mindset and never give up.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started in the music industry back in 1999. I have always loved music, and I feel it’s a medicine that’s needed everyday of your life. I started as a dhol player (Punjabi drum) in 1999, played alongside many great DJs, performed at many big stage shows, won two competitions, and did a world tour with RDB (Rhythm Dhol Bass) back in 2010. After 2010 I decided to my music career up a notch and become a full time DJ. Practiced a lot, hosted my own club events, and till date have performed at many memorable events. I love making people dance, and having them walk home with a smile on their face. In 2015, I got into music production. Something in which I never thought I could do. But like I said from the start, nothing comes easy, you have to earn it. I have produced over 400+ remixes, 2 original songs, 5 Bollywood mashups, and a Bollywood remake. Upcoming projects are in the works with some major artists. I also love to host radio shows, anything that involves music, I love to be.a part of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As much as I’m a home body, and when I travel I get home sick very easily, if I had a good friend visit town, these are some places I love going to: City Center, great spots for restaurants and vibes. If my friend was a clubbing/lounge person, it would be Gavanna night club in midtown as one of my favorite spots. I am also a big sports person, and if my friend loved sports, Houston has many great sports bars with great drinks. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest role models and inspiration are my parents. My dad has always let me live my dreams. My grandmother has always motivated me to never give up. I wouldn’t be what I am today if it wasn’t for them.
