We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony R. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ebony, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up my mom decorated for EVERY holiday… And I do mean every holiday… Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Mardi Gras, Easter: just to name a few. My mom was always the contact person for party planning and family weddings! So naturally being her mini me, I started to help and admire the work that she did. Some time after college, when my siblings started expanding their families, I was called upon to help with my nieces and nephews parties. Those parties gave me the courage to design parties on a large scale and I have been planning celebrations ever since!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Event design helps me to be creative and give clients an opportunity to shine! It definitely has not been easy and especially not in this pandemic but we make it work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take my closest buddy to Tiny Nails first to get fancy nails! We would then go thrifting around town and enjoy brunch at Taste Bar and Kitchen! We would walk off all that food on the Harwin strip and end the day with a girl’s game night!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout the HJE Staff! They are small in number but always manage to rock it out at every event! I would next like to thank my parents and family! They definitely hold me down in my personal life so that I can make magic for my clients!
