We had the good fortune of connecting with Helen Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helen, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Passion has to be the most important factor behind my successful career. If you are passionate and believe in your craft then everything will follow. Education is a big factor as well, having the right knowledge and investing in it will set you apart and turn what could’ve started as a hobby into a professional job. I have always been passionate about skincare and slowing down the aging process by keeping the skin as youthful as possible. In 2007 I attended ICE Houston and obtained my international certificate of CIDESCO. I learned the foundation of organic skincare and how different products penetrate the skin at different rates. Years of knowledge and drive lead me to make my own products. In 2018 Elestial Lounge opened its doors. I am still passionate about educating, training and showing the importance of investing in your skin with organic result driven products.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business specializes in organic result driven hemp oil skincare targeted for acneic skin, rosacea and dry compromised skin. I handcraft small batch organic products for men and women alike, and provide facial treatments with hemp oil resulting in instant smoother brighter softer skin. What sets Elestial Lounge apart is we are organic, local and use the full plant to create customized product blends targeted specifically to the needs of customers. Our holistic treatments are filled with intoxicating aroma from the organic flowers relaxing the mind and body.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is by far my favorite city, it has a lot of out door events and things to do. Everyone that visits needs to check out the miller outdoor theater at night, don’t forget to bring a basket of food/drinks and enjoy the show! The Museum of natural science is also my favorite, I love the gem exhibition and watching the Pink Floyd light show in the planetarium. Must go outdoor events are the local farmers markets like the sawyer heights market or the hip hip vintage market. If you are in the north side of town “H-TOWN DONUTS” off grant are a must stop and have the churro donut or the brisket kolache. FORMOSA TEA HOUSE off grant is a must stop for the best bob- tea in Houston!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Ruben Dominguez of FOX 26 for making a live segment on Elestial Lounge in 2019, that opened the doors to a wider audience. I would also like to thank Vania from “Un Poquito de Todo con Vania” for having me on her show broadcasting on Telemundo; Opening the doors to the Hispanic community.
