We had the good fortune of connecting with Hunter Shelton and Luke Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hunter & Luke, how does your business help the community?
The idea behind all of our collaboration bags, is to give back. We wanted to be passionate and genuine in our giving, so we choose some things that are close to us and our sport. The very first collaboration bag we did was benefiting athletes with disabilities. They are based out of Houston, so not only do they have roots locally, its an athletic non profit! We are currently working on a bag now that supports an all women’s cycling team. This is just the beginning for us as we have many ideas for bigger impact pieces.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Some of the bigger things we’ve learned during this process is that, you cannot do anything alone! Even though it’s just two co-founders as employees, we lean heavily on each other and the people that help us along the supply chain. Business is not only just about hard work, determination and a little luck but mostly about people. People matter, they are your suppliers, your work partners, and in the end they are your customers and friends.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the best spots in the woodlands are clearly the waterway! Not only is it beautiful for an evening walk or a morning bike ride, they have some great restaurants and bars. One of the best hidden gems in the area is La Cocina De Roberto.
As far as Houston, a must go spot is called Gypsy Poet in Midtown for pizza. For good drinks or physical activites take it over to the heights. Common Bond has excellent coffee and pastries to go. Eighth Row Flint makes an outstanding ranch water if you’re in the mood!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We have had tremendous support from our significant others, friends, and teammates. The local cycling community has been a big help by carrying our products and showing up at our rides!
