We had the good fortune of connecting with Jadeverett Mayhorn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jadeverett, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Keep getting to know yourself has been the most important lesson business and my career has taught me. I feel like the more I asked myself important questions that related to my soul, and who I truly am. The journey of knowledge of self has first guided me to become a better me, A more evolved version of my past self to be successful in anything. Once I evolved, this journey revealed to me my passion and purpose to help people see, heal, and become their best selves. Relationships are important. As the saying goes “your network is your net worth”. I feel like the people I choose to be around inspire me to be my best self, and I believe my journey is a reflection of that. I surround myself with amazing beings who are business owners, artists, creatives, teachers, lawyers, financial advisors, spiritual guides, engineers, and holistic healers, so all this inspiration is just more motivation to keep a good heart, treat people right, and keep growing as a person.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create cool socks with my company Fiyah Azz Socks, write books and podcasts on topics ranging from spiritual development to digital marketing. The thing I’ve most proud of with my art is that it has been created from a place of love in my soul. It brings me genuine happiness to create this art because it allows me to connect with powerful creators from all over the world and uplift the universal consciousness. Entrepreneurship has always been something that has intrigued and inspired me. My big brother has been very successful through a few business ventures like the IM3 Oil and Lube shop in 3rd ward Houston, TX, and he had his own ringtone business back in the day, so there’s always been a spark for the business world inside of me since around 2008. With this in mind, in 2009, freshman year of college at Prairie View A&M University. I started working on different network marketing businesses my family started getting into and hanging around people who have been very successful in their game. I felt the potential for freedom around these people, and of course, that’s all I believe we are all looking for. Freedom to be who we are, and live life as we see fit in harmony with the universe. So fast forward, I graduate from PV with my Chemical Engineering Degree in Spring 2014 and start working for Texas Instruments, the ones that make the calculators, as a process and equipment engineer. I worked for them for 5 years, and in 2017 I started refereeing basketball because it’s always been my first love. Shortly after in March 2018, I decided to leave my $80,000 job to pursue my divine purpose and at the time I didn’t know what it was besides basketball. Along my journey through reading countless books, spiritual life coaching workshops, working a few other jobs, they all mentioned how writing out your dreams, goals, and how you want to live your life is beneficial for manifesting your reality, so I started writing out my reality daily. This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Writing from my soul helped me get to know myself, God, and realize what I truly want out of life. Writing also helped me to remember my love for cool socks. From my undergraduate years at PV with my line brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi, we use to wear all types of cool socks with our outfits. A fashion statement you could say, so I already had hundreds of different socks, so I thought to form a Jade Gems & SOULutions around my spiritual journey, my love for writing, and create my own sock designs for people to enjoy and feel inspired by. Each sock line and book has a special message of God within each of us that spreads love and helps uplift the universal consciousness. This journey as a creative has definitely not been easy, but that’s only because I was starting something new and anything new usually comes with some growing pains. I overcame a lot of the challenges through practicing mediation, yoga, and continuously investing in my growth daily, becoming at least 1% better each day. Sticking to the course and having faith in the vision I’ve been given. It’s been more of a spiritual journey for me, getting to know myself and working every day to trust and believe that this plan will work out, and knowing it will because of the work and belief I put in. A few of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are patience, discipline, listening to myself, creating space to sit in silence, and stillness to listen to the downloads being given. Meditation, yoga, and improving my eating habits have been super helpful in clearing my mind and removing toxic distractions from my path. In short, I’ll say improving my lifestyle habits helped me to overcome the challenges of being a creator. I want the world to know about The Jade Gems & SOULutions brand is that we are here to help improve the world, help people love themselves more, and uplift the universal consciousness with our divine art, products, and services. We would love to have you a part of the Divine Tribe to help us expand the Unleash The God Within Movement
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first have to bring them to my dad’s community center, Launch Point CDC, to see the work we’ve been doing for the past 30 years in the Northeast Area of Houston. Food drives, construction training, job placement, and many other community upliftment projects. It’s been amazing to witness.
For the best food, I would take them Lindianas, Mo Better Brews, Wisdom Vegan Bakery, Sinful Bakery, Pistoleros for Tacos and Margaritas, and also my Auntie and Uncle’s restaurant Cafe Rian in Humble, TX for some good cajun food. We can forget about smoothies, definitely gotta hit up Juiceland. We would stop at a Thai restaurant and pick up some fried rice and egg rolls! Oh yeah, I can’t forget about Cascabel for some Vegan Mexican food. I think that would get us through the week for food.
The best place to hang out is in the museum district, there are tons of dope art, structures, and historical museums in the area to check out. Since I’m a big kid at heart, there’s this super cool go-karting place in New Caney that goes pretty fast so it’s a lot of fun. Twilight Ephiphany Skyspace. I would also take them to Discovery Green since there’s usually also something to do there. And If it’s basketball season, we’d definitely have to check out a Rockets game.
And for the rare occasion nightlife, my frat brothers have that on lock so it’s always somewhere to go out, turn up, and have some fun
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shout-out to my parents, Ivory Mayhorn and Jackie Mayhorn, founders of Launch Point CDC Community Development Center in Northeast Houston. Ever since I can remember, my parents have always been in the community helping people by speaking uplifting messages in prisons, hosting community cleanups, church organization leaders, food drives, job training, Superneighbor 47 officers, anything they could do to help bring people along. This compassionate spirit has been passed down to me, and I feel like it’s my purpose to share knowledge, spread love, and help people with resources that will help uplift the universal consciousness.
Also, I want to shout out my big brother and sister for also being inspirations along the way. My brother Ivory is a computer engineer and successful entrepreneur, owner of the IM3 Oil and Lube in 3rd Ward, Houston, so I’ve been able to get a lot of business experience and mentorship from him which has been monumental on my journey. And my sister Ebony, the smartest person I know. She has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and works in the space of Clean Energy and Energy Inequities. Talk about a power family! They definitely deserve some credit and recognition in my story
