We had the good fortune of connecting with Karishma Naidu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karishma, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
As many people say “taking risks, leads to Rewards” and that is true from many angles. My whole life I Have been the risk taker, the adventurer, the bold and curious and I am thankful for being who I am. Without taking risks you cannot push yourself to be better today and cross barriers that would normally slow many down. Sometimes it is about taking a risk and getting a reward at the end, but I truly live a life where change may be needed; and when I see an opportunity to grow and learn from that I am not going to shy away from the success or the failure that may come my way. One of the biggest risks I have ever taken is moving away from my life, friends, family and an established career to marry my soulmate and to be honest I do not have a single regret. Life is all about taking risks, and sometimes that includes just stepping out the door and crossing the street. You have to be brave and take life head on and become the person you want to be, and risk will always be staring you in the face and it’s how you choose to deal with it. Everything I have accomplished to this day is because I took a risk. Throughout my career people always ask me how I got into Real Estate and the answer blows people away more often than none. I quit my job as a General Manager of high fashion and started my real estate course the next day. That’s it, simple. You have to take a leap of faith sometimes, especially when you know you are destined for more.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a real estate professional and I represent current and future Home owners and business owners with the biggest transactions of their lives. Coming from a background of entrepreneurship I enjoy helping others to be their best and feel their best. Seeing others happy makes me feel great and affirms my purpose and fulfillment and I love connecting with people. Consistency, hard work and a leap of faith has got me to where I am today. I believe that being consistent, having a positive mindset, and great environment opens up many possibilities and opportunities that you didn’t know existed. I have experienced the lows in the industry but always feel glad to have failure as the best teacher. I’ve learned to try new things even if there is a chance of doubt without any hesitation.
My learnings give me confidence to only provide the best for my clients as a professional and a friend.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is growing so much and I love the fact that I made the move with my husband 4 years ago to live here. The first thing I noticed about this city when I moved here is the diversity of people and cultures. Food halls are a new upcoming development in Houston. If my family or friends were to visit I would take them to “peaky grinders” who offer the most juiciest Burgers in town. And from there, I would definitely have to go to Linda’s Exotic Fruits for a fresh mango smoothie, it is to die for! Some great selections of fresh fruit from around the world. I’m a foodie if you did not notice, and I love to explore and find great places to eat.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every step I take, I learn something from someone along the way. My biggest supporter in my life is my Husband. He is my best friend, my strongest motivation and the one who listens to my crazy ideas day and night. I’ve never seen anyone work as hard as he does, his work ethic is just unbelievable and I love learning from him.
I have so much gratitude for everyone who has been my mentor since the time I started working. A big shoutout to my team leader Andrea Tran from NextGen for pushing my limits to become the best in the Real Estate industry. With great mentors and those to aspire to, I have found that success is always knocking at your door.
