Meet Katherine Silva | Mom, makeup artist, photographer and journalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Silva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes I do have one that comes to my mind in this moment and it is “she believed she could, so she did” for me this quote marks so many stages in my life. Mainly the decision to move to the USA by myself 12 years ago that really paid of and it has been one of the best things I have done so far. The decision to have a Bariatric surgery for my health and lost 140lbs changing my habits and learning how to eat better. One of the hardest moments in my life so far when I think this quote took his signifícate to another level was when my dad passed. I am only child and going trough that by myself was something that I never thought I will be able to do and I did it. So I think life is hard and comes to you with a lot of bumps but is you trust God he will be able to show you the way and give you the strength to do what is necessary at the time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel that what sets me apart from others is that I do different things I don not focus in just one thing. I shoot to do everything good and being great in what I do. My brand @bykatty_ has múltiples áreas, I do photography, makeup videos and styling. I love to talk and show my outfits and help girls to chose what it looks good for them. I have learn along the way that if you trust your judgment you will do great things,I think hearing others opinions will help you too but you have to make sure that follow what your heart and brain are guiding you to go or to do. My brand grow more after my dad passing it was my good scape to do something and have my mind occupied, it helped me no to forget but to have something else to think about.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I will take them to the NASA if you come to the Houston are you have to go to the NASA. Another place that I will take them would be the museum distric and the zoo. For this time I will do the renaissance festival that I loved the entertainment and the food is amazing. To eat I will do fogo de chao.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all I will have to thank and dedicate everything that I am to God all the glory to him because of him I am where I am today. Next my dad (rest in peace) without him I would not being able to be where I am he support me to do everything that I wanted to do and was my number one fan, talking about makeup he helped me to bring to life my first makeup room and he bought me my first profesional camera so he was my number one supporter. I will have to thank my best friend Nadia Tabban for being there for me and give me always that impulse to do better. I dedicate this shout to my son Marcus that I love with all my heart and is my rock. For him everything.
