We had the good fortune of connecting with La’Nora Boror and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi La’Nora, what inspires you?
Life Inspires me, Those moments in life that gives you Pause or just the opportunity to share time.
I find inspiration in Friendship, love and even loss.
Those things have shaped my character, I’ve learned and I’m learning some of my best lessons and creating some of my best work from those moments.
It’s all in the details for me i.e.,something as small as a quote on a post card or as large as a mural on a wall could prompt me to start a series or work on something creative. Your environment can set the stage as when I sip a cup of hot tea or sit by the lake and ideas begin to come to me as fast as a hummingbird flapping their wings. I realize that I am only limited by my imagination. Being Creative is inspiration within itself enjoying Spoken word weather performing or listening to others, working with my hands crafting ,Something forgotten or discarded into something amazing.
Dancing barefoot in my Studio listening to House music or gospel.
It’s just something about the beat of house music that Feels like it connects to the beat of my heart. And if you don’t know anything about gospel music,it talks directly to the soul and it’s difficult not to find inspiration in those sources.
Color takes me on a journey far beyond Sight it gives shape to things if you ask me. I couldn’t Imagine living in a black-and-white world thank goodness we don’t have to when I think of color that invoke memories or thoughts for me.
Or some kind of inspiration I would have to say Chartreuse is by far my favorite color,a funky green color lighter then grass ,darker then neon green it Reminds me of my mom she loved that color and I didn’t know that until we lost her a few Years ago it made me feel grateful to know we shared the same Favorite color.
I love it so much so all the small appliances in my first apartment were that color it gave the kitchen a very green living vibe. Cooking in there made me Extremely happy.
How things make me feel is a Hugh source of Inspiration for me holding hands with loved ones a warm embrace and kind words.
Style, fashion It’s a great opportunity to just be you.
Loving yourself and expressing yourself thru style and fashion is a freedom all its own.
I Find inspiration in movies which gives us an opportunity to see things from someone else’s perspective and the opportunity to imagine yourself in that place. For example, when I went to see the movie Black Panther it put my mind in a paradise unlike any I’ve ever seen before Fully equipped with technology, wildlife and culture. My understanding of inspiration is it has no rules, it’s just whatever gives you that moment to go, “wow” that moment to think about it from a different perspective. Live your life to the fullest being your authentic self. Remember inspiration starts with you because you should live your life like it’s golden, because it is!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
