We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business was 1st being a single mother of five, I wanted to give my kids a better life, also being able to pour into their dreams! Being able to have financial freedom, leaving wealth for my great grandchildren. That was my thought process behind starting my business..

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a Healthcare scrub brand called Nikao Scrub Solutions. We provide quality, stylish, and affordable healthcare uniforms. I’m excited launching last year, the business have expanded, I have grown in public relations I’m a very shy person and to now be speaking, publicly, is amazing.! My challenge is finding a consistent lane to be in, and growing. I want you to know that it is a meaning behind my brand, and I stand on it. Nikao is a Greek word that means to overcome/to Prevail/and to be victorious. My brand connects to my life going from stage four to “who she think she is”!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A nice weekend with me would be having breakfast at Another Broken Egg in Pearland, head out to Memorial city do a little shopping drop into Tresor Cache Boutique for a little more shopping! And then go sit down on the patio of juicy crab w/ two lemon drops and enjoy the day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out that man above God for guiding me, give me the strength, courage and knowledge! I want to shout out voyage Houston for collaborating with me on branding my brand.
