We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy V. Mora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nancy V., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my fitness journey about a year ago, and gave it my all. Thru my journey I found how hard it was to find healthy places to eat and yet feel comfortable. Its hard to sometimes wind down after the gym and sometimes you just need a quick break. I visioned Uno, Dos, Shakes! As a place you can bring your friends, children, or come alone and have options. We make shakes, protein shakes, and milkshakes to cater to the whole family. We also have vegan options for either milkshakes or protein shakes. Are menu is filled with a lot of other fun options also. After COVID I feel everyone has turned and tried to be more healthy because at the end of the day, that’s all we have right now. I am an entrepreneur and have multiple businesses so I know what its like to have a busy lifestyle and yet try to be healthy. Uno, Dos, Shakes! Is a place you can come and work on your laptop or just talk to others while having healthy options to fill your tummy or muscles. This business had been in my head for a few years, but after my major transformation, I figured it would be neat to show others how easy and fun it can be and guilt free. All while having fun

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My story is one to tell, I was a teen mom. Before the age of 18 I had two children. They have been my stone and they are amazing! They have been with me thru my ups and downs. I am like any other mother, I have my moments, but I am also a business women. I grew up in a family of business, from my grandparents to my parents and I plan to continue that. I feel that I had a lot of setbacks but took that and held on and like a slingshot came back 10 times better. We lost our older brother when we were teens and that was very hard for our family, then shortly after I became pregnant with my first child. Before I graduated I was pregnant with my second child. There were days I literally held my crying daughter while doing homework and crying with her. But all those struggles envisioned me to do better, to succeed, to make sure those moments were not in vain. I started my own business by the age of 18, as a notary and income tax preparer. Its not always the material things that you strive for its the freedom of not having to ask someone for a day off. Its not having to worry about what your kids are going to eat the next day or living paycheck to paycheck. Me and my two older kids have struggled, there were times that they got to eat dinner and I skipped it in order to save money. You know I was asked one time , “Nancy, if you wouldn’t of had your kids so young you would be so much richer right now” and I responded , “ You know you might be right, but I don’t think so because my children have made me the person I am today and everything I do is for them” and those words stick to me still to get up and try again. I worked at Walgreens at one point while pregnant with my 3rd child because we had no other option. I remember being so tired, weak and just thinking about how much we needed that money to make ends meet. I could go on and on on how much I have struggled but the point is that I feel my story is different because I am different. My daughter graduated high school last year, my son is a honor student, my two young children are amazing and my son from my husband is going to be a father, which excites me beyond words. We now run 6 different business, and have over come so much. I also have managed my fitness journey thru all this which was featured on the Houston Chronicle and Today.com. So anything and everything you want to do is possible as long as YOU put the effort.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im so bad at getting out, the only places I go are to kids places and the gym, I also don’t like large crowds. I love the vintage, mainly because my office is located there and it has everything! So in case yall need a tax preparer, notary, title services, yall know where to find me 16 years experience!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could thank so much people that have crossed my path because everyone taught me a lesson. Some with words that have stuck with me forever, those that showed me support, others who showed me lessons, those who showed me actions, and those who have loved me unconditionally. I would say thank you to all of them!
