We had the good fortune of connecting with P Saint and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi P, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
A few habits that helped and are still helping me succeed are consistency, confidence and hard work. With consistency, it allowed me to find my sound, build my catalog and grow so much as an artist. Through confidence, I believe in my talents and my gift. By working hard, I’ve made sure I’ve put in over the 10,000 hours to perfect my craft and continuously level up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an artist/creative out of NYC. I create afrobeat/rnb/hip hop music. I believe what sets me apart is my voice, melodies and my creativity with combining genres or making something sound really appealing and different. I’m not afraid to take risks and I’m always trying to push the envelope and make timeless songs. What I’m most proud about is my growth with making music for 8 years. The journey definitely had its ups and downs but I feel like every situation taught me a lesson and provided room for growth. I remember trying to get into the studio was always hard so I went out and bought my own mic and set up and learned how to engineer. Now every record I’ve put out for the past 5 years has been engineered by me. This process was not easy; writer’s block could happen, lack of passion or even just life happens. All these create a better story to tell so instead of letting certain moments define my future, I decided to put it in the music. Often I was overlooked, laughed at or not taken seriously but I let that fuel me. Along this journey so far I’ve learned to always “Do You”. What other people think about me only exists in their mind. Finding who I am, gave me the confidence to do what I do and create the way I create. I just want the world to know anything is possible and it’s all about time. Also want them to know I plan to continue giving them vibes and good music. The P Saint brand is about making music with meaning and the vibes are limitless. My story is far from over and I would love for everyone to join me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I recently moved to Los Angeles so if my best friend was visiting, some places I would take him would definitely be the best food spots around, I love me a good burger from Five Guys. I would also take them to LACMA, or the Griffith Observatory to take in some dope views which are always inspiring. Also I would let them experience the nightlife at some clubs or bars.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can’t call out everyone name by name but I’ll just go on and shoutout my friends. They know who they are. They really watched my journey and supported me along the way. They believed in me when I had my doubts.
