Meet Shay Jackson | Food & Life Blogger,

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shay Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shay, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being uncomfortable, having a strong support system, and confidence to accept new challenges. It’s a known fact that discomfort can lead to growth professionally. As a creative person, I strive to improve my skills. I often seek guidance from other self-taught chefs and content creators – which helps me grow professionally. My most significant supporter is my husband. As a Retired Photographer, I embrace his feedback on my work. We also collaborate on various photoshoots.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Did I mention I have a Graphic Design background? My creative wheel is constantly turning. I continuously look for ways to develop innovative ideas through a unique perspective. From sharpening my video editing and food styling skills to perfecting recipes, there’s much to discover. I am still learning to navigate the social media world and pitching myself to brands. Some days can be more complex than others. I have learned to ask questions rather than struggle. My continued efforts to connect and network with people in my community are uplifting. I am proud of the work I’ve done. Including my community work with Eat Black Charlotte. Through our 30k followers, we support and promote black-owned restaurants. We’ve successfully hosted a restaurant week and food truck festival for three years now.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a NEW Texas resident, I have the opportunity to explore and fall in love with new places. Thus far I have fallen in love with the Chinatown area. My out-of-state friends and family will have the opportunity to experience Houston with me.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband. I know it sounds cheesy, but he IS my biggest supporter both professionally and personally.
