Sometimes a book, or even just a line, chapter or passage within a book can stick with us long after we’ve read its final page. We asked some of our favorite community members to tell us about a book that’s had a meaningful impact on them.
Carey Handley | Graphic Designer and Print Professional
One of the most influential business books I’ve read recently is “The Seven Levels of Communication” by Michael J. Maher; in fact, I read it in a day. One focus of this book is a gentle reminder on how to build and maintain positivity in relationships which is then used to build business foundations. Relationship-building has always been a cornerstone in my graphic design and printing business so this book solidified what I believe to be true and took it to the next level. Read more>>

Breaking the Habit of Being You : How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Dr. Joe Dispenza. I’m a huge proponent of personal development. I believe that, like water, if we aren’t changing we become stagnant. Stagnancy invites disease. Dis-ease, is a body out of ease. I read the book of Proverbs and specifically began to take heed on Proverbs 31. I recently read “The Power of the Actor”. It’s an amazing book and I’d recommend it to all the actors out there. It shows you a step by step technique to maximize your scene study and get the most out of it. It helps in developing your process of creating a real, believable character that you & the audience can connect to. Everything is broken down into simple terms so it’s easy to understand and learn. I am currently reading Be the Message Taking your Faith Beyond Words to a Life of Action by Kerry and Chris Shook. It may seem strange, but I am not a person that reads often. When I do find a book that grabs my attention from the beginning I can get hooked in wanting to read til the end. I received this book from my late Uncle Fred a while back, but I never looked inside to see what it was about. With everything going on in the world I had to find things to occupy my time and distract me from some of the craziness people are saying and doing. Read more>>
