We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Lynch & Dulce Alcorta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam & Dulce, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
This was the most appropriate question for us. After 4 or 5 years of listening to similar podcasts and having finally being able to live with one another we decided to give a try for ourselves. Adam is a new immigrant and we knew that waiting for paperwork/work permits to be approved would take a long time so being unable to work gave the perfect opportunity to learn how to edit video and audio, publish, research topics etc. This gives Dulce the freedom to be able to focus on solely researching topics for upcoming episodes while she also works her full time job.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Dulce studied to be a teacher in college and one of her favorite parts of this was researching and bringing what she has learned to others ie. our listeners. She has since taken a different role but a main part of her full time job is still helping others to learn by teaching, training and coaching various roles. The researching is what carries over to our podcast as with each topic we cover we need to find different sources to make sure that we bring the most honest version of a story to our audience.
Adam on the other hand has a background in construction, he became an electrician and has worked various similar jobs. One thing he has always had a passion for is hearing other people’s stories. Working in construction, the people you work with can change almost daily and you have to learn how to communicate with new people all the time. Adam has worked in a few different countries and one thing that always manages to get people talking is a good old fashioned ghost story. Whether you believe in the paranormal or not it’s bound to get people chatting and this is why we aim to build a nice community where people can come and share their stories without feeling as though they’re being judged.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Wilde Collection was the most amazing place before it was sadly burned down but hopefully Lawyer can get the place up and running again some day soon!!!
Speedy’s Arcade is a great spot to spend an afternoon playing pool and video games!!! Cidercade is another good option
We have recently been trying out a more plant based lifestyle and have been checking out vegan spots all over the city, so far we highly recommend Cascabel, Chef Kenny’s and Korny Vibes
Moody Gardens and Galveston is definitely a days worth of activities for when my family come over from Ireland
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our love for this genre which is mainly True Crime and Paranormal has been with us both from a very young age, from various different forms of media, old horror movies, family ghost stories, watching documentaries and reading books we were probably too young for but in more recent terms we would say that listening to Last Podcast on the Left has definitely fueled our passion. They showed us that you can enjoy listening and learning about grim, darker topics while also feeling like you’re just hanging out with your equally weird friends. They also helped us realize that these topics are not necessarily black and white or murder and ghosts but there is so much more to learn from them and a lot of this just goes back to simple human nature. Last Podcast on the Left are literally the number one podcast in this genre but our goal is to make our community of listeners feel as accepted as they make us feel
