We had the good fortune of connecting with Arty Whittenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arty, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habits that have helped me succeed are the simple building blocks to success. Prayer, Hard Work, Perseverance, Integrity and Passion for life. Having the opportunities to make a difference in my student’s lives has given me hope that life can be wonderful if we give of ourselves unselfishly. Respecting one’s craft gives a stability of hope and loyalty to the cause of life!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am Arty Whittenberg professionally known as “Autiztry”! I was born in Los Angeles, California but I was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I attended Grambling State University where I earned a degree in music education and music performance. After college I began teaching band, choir and orchestra in middle school and high school. I have been teaching for a total of 16 years now. I have been a part of music ALL of my entire life. My Grandmother, Mildred Ballard started me on this music journey. She was a renowned Gospel singer herself. She pushed me and motivated me to be the best singer and drummer I could be. I began singing and composing gospel songs and playing drums at the age of 4 because of my Grandmother. My high school choir teacher, Gwen McWilliams guided me to be the musician and singer I am today! Everything I know about music theory and the voice; I owe to this great lady! Without her guidance I would have never gone to college. Getting to this point as a singer, musician and music teacher has not been an easy journey at all. Financially is has always been tough. There was a period in my adult life after college I was homeless and I did not have a job or anything to depend on. Many of my family and friends I have never told this to because I have always to pride in overcoming challenges on my own. With strong Faith in God and a passion for music, my life took a tremendous turn for the better. I worked hard to pull myself up and back to a stable foundation in life. Every day is a struggle, but I persevere. The lessons I have learned along the way have been very valuable to me and my music. Always remember that God loves you no matter how hard things get! I have learned that there are many people who pray for you to be successful in your journey no matter where it leads you. But most importantly, give back to the community the gift that was given to you. As a music teacher, I try my best to instill in my students the same passion for music that I have. It makes me feel happy to see All of my students and friends be successful in their passions of life! I want the world to know that Love is the key to happiness! Music is the spirit that drives us all to our sublime heights of greatness! I want my legacy to the world to know as a light to a dream of darkness. I believe my purpose in life is to serve others and to make the world happy through my music! My dream is to inspire the masses with love and the abundant pleasure of freedom to be who you are! My music is a painting of my life and all that I have encountered and overcome! My story is a story for the ages!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Everyone that knows me knows by best friend who is now my brother is Rocky Fontaine! We are like Batman and Superman together! I would take him to the Famous Turkey Leg Hut and the Breakfast Klub! We love tacos, so we would hit Velvet taco up and Torchy’s taco also. We are zoo fans, so we would go to the zoo at least 2 times that week. Museums are awesome, we would go to every museum in the museum district. We would visit NASA and the Kemah Boardwalk! They are a ton of bars downtown Houston, but our favorite is Mongoose and Cobra! We would hit Galveston beach for a few days and go fishing. Rocky loves Lakewood Church, so we would end the week by going to see Joel Osteen at Lakewood church! Houston has no much to offer. It would never be a boarding day!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I would love to give recognition for my success. I feel blessed and highly favored by God to be in this position to be able to share the gift of music with so many people who have supported me on my journey! God deserves all of the praise and glory for my success! There are a few I would like to give thanks to. First off, I would like to thank my producer, Carl Jones of Alien University Productions. Carl Jones is the HOTTEST producer in Houston! This man has pushed me to my limits to be a great vocalist! He has encouraged me to never give up on my dreams and to believe in myself no matter what! We have known each other since we were in high school band marching on the Drumline! We have a bond that can’t be broken. With his tracks and my voice, we have created magic! I salute you Carl Jones! I would also like to salute Norian Love! One of the biggest Best-Selling Authors in Houston www.norianlove.com and an amazing music producer in Houston, Texas. We have collaborated on many musical stories and most recently “Autumn: A Love Story The Soundtrack” in which I “Autiztry” am featured on the main hit single “THE END OF SUMMER” https://www.norianlove.com/coming-soon. This single is free to download. Norian Love has given me an opportunity to let my voice be heard through his poetic lyrics of love! Last but not least, my amazing friend Landis “Cyra” Anderson! She is one of the biggest Visionary Artist in Houston! Her paintings always give me a better vision on where my music should take me and her artistic expressions have taught me to be true to my feelings as an artist. She has taught me how to meditate and take my music to another level. My music is so much different and more heartfelt because of Landis. Landis is the directory and founder of Visionary Grind Art www.visionarygrindarts.wixsite.com and you can find her at www.cyratheartist.com! These 3 people have pushed me to a different level in music and I am truly grateful to them all!
