Meet Dona Irey | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dona Irey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dona, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have wanted to be an actress since I was very little. My mom has told me many times how when I was little, I would point to the television screen and say that one day I would be on it. the very first film I ever did is currently on Amazon! So, I was right!! I waited until my kids were grown before I decided to pursue my dreams.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud of every film and play that I have been a part of! It is not easy, I have been following my dream for just over 4 years. It is really hard to face rejection, and that feeling that you are not good enough. I have to remind myself that every rejection is because the CD had something specific in mind and I just did not meet that something. I look in the mirror every day and tell myself “I am worthy of a great role, there are no small roles and that I am amazing even if they are not seeing it right now.” Acting is hard work, harder than people think. I get told often that “all you have to do is stand there and look pretty,” It is so much more than that. If it were that easy, everyone would do it! I am a native Houstonian, I LOVE my job and I love my fans!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh my goodness, so many things!!! If my bestie was visiting the area, first we would go down to Galveston and visit The Strand. I love shopping down there and seeing the beach. We would eat at several places including Gringos, Perry’s Steakhouse, can’t forget Longhorn Steakhouse and Landry’s Seafood for good measure! We also need to take in some Rudy’s BBQ, now I’m getting hungry! We would go hang out in Old Town Spring at The Spotted Pony. We would also go to Magnolia and Tomball. We would also take a day and go out to the Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary in Montgomery. I am more of a home person. I love eating out, but then going home and catching a movie on demand, Netflix, Huly or Disney+. If this is taking place during the fall time, we would spend a weekend at The Texas Renaissance Festival (I am an Ambassador),
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom, my brother, my best friend, and my pirate crew! My mom and my brother have been my greatest supporters my entire life. My best friend and my pirate crews (yes, I am the Captain of one and a member of a second) have been very supportive of my career and do all they can to support me in all I do!
