We had the good fortune of connecting with Yen Kieu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Dessert tables have become so popular over the last few years with weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and corporate events. It takes so much time and effort to plan for an event. I found a niche that allowed for us to offer desserts, cakes, and decor so that our clients do not have to use multiple vendors. This was our main goal to capture our clients attention. We design, plan, and execute a beautiful dessert table setting along with our amazing cakes and desserts all created to coordinate with each unique theme and occasion. Our clients really appreciate the level of detail we put into each dessert table.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We strive on provide a full service event set up for every client tailored to their theme. On many occasions we partner with other vendors to make their visions come through. We go above and beyond our services in order to make the planning process go as smooth as possible. All the delicious delectables for our dessert tables are created by us to coordinate with the clients desired theme. We have learned that people love the details of each hand crafted dessert that is made special for them. During the slower event season we offer cakes and delectables such as custom sugar cookies, cake pops, and cupcakes. We develop a great working relationship with our clients which results in return clients and referrals, which in this industry is so important.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
We are located in Sugarland, TX and there is actually a vast variety of things to do within this area. There are a variety of restaurants that serves a an array of different kinds of of food from casual eating to fine dining. Keeper’s Japanese Restaurant is a great little sushi restaurant. They have a great menu here for adults as well as kids. The cocktails are amazing! You have to try the Blood Orange. But besides their great Happy Hour hours and menu, the hospitality here is amazing! I would also suggest to take in a concert or show at the Smart Financial Center only a short drive away. The Sugarland Town Center is also a great place to walk around and do some shopping, have brunch, and catch a movie. There are also many events that happen here during the weekends that are family friendly. One of my favorite things to do is spend time at the parks. We are surrounded by vast parks, but I enjoy Oyster Creek Park. Its easy to pack a picnic and enjoy the scenery here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is an easy question for me. My family and friends. When I came to them with the idea that I was going to take the plunge and start this new venture, there was no shortage of support and encouragement. My little boy Cooper is the biggest cheerleader of them all. He is by my side as I prep for each event giving compliments and sometimes criticism. Given he is only 5. He is the very reason why this came to fruition. When he turned 3 I made my very first cake, well semi homemade, I bought a plain iced cake from a grocery store and decorated it myself. The rest is history. We had made so many friends as well as formed great relationships with vendors in the industry through this venture. It’s one the greatest outcomes of it all!
