We had the good fortune of connecting with Blossom Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blossom, how do you think about risk?
I have a very positive view on taking risks. A phrase I live by is “feel the fear and do it anyway”. I take all the (calculated) risks I can. Life is meant to be lived! I also see risks as leaps of faith and experiences that I usually learn something very valuable from. That mindset shift helps me to see the positive side of every risk I take. 🙂
Taking risks have played a major role in my life and career. I recently moved to Houston, TX by myself without knowing a single person and started a Health & Fitness business! Yep, I would say I’m a risk taker! Lol!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor, and Health Coach I see exercise as an art form. I love the process of creating exercise plans and fitness routines for my clients! I truly have my own style and I like to make health and fitness fun.
The creative and fun way that I put exercise to music, design digital products like virtual challenges, ebooks, and meal plans, and how I can fill a room with positive energy, authenticity, and originality really sets me apart from others.
I am the most proud of myself for taking a leap of faith and starting a Health & Fitness Coaching business in a place where I knew no one. Despite all of the obstacles and rejection I have faced I will continue to go forward and pursue my dreams; my purpose is connected to so many destinies.
I am so excited to focus more on creating digital products like courses, ebooks, and meal plans so that I can help a wider audience of women who are on their weight loss journey’s. (Take my FREE 1 Day Raw Vegan Challenge that comes with a meal plan by clicking the link in my Instagram Bio @ Bloom With Blossom.)
I got to where I am today by faith. It has not been easy but I finally feel like I am in alignment with my purpose in life. I use to work in a different health related career. I quit corporate to follow my real passion of helping women lose weight and get healthy. It was totally worth the risk! I overcame the challenges through prayer, meditation, and journaling, and faith. I’ve learned that God will lead you to where you need to be if you can get quiet enough to hear His directions and courageous enough to follow them.
I want people to know my mission, which is to positively impact the state of health in the Black community through helping women jumpstart their weight loss journey with whole plant foods while supporting them along the way. I want people to know that everything I do comes from a place of love and genuinely wanting to see women be healthier. I want people to know what my tagline “Slowly unfold and BLOOM like a flower” means. It means that eating healthier and getting fit is a process… a slow unfolding of something so beautiful that I think we shouldn’t just rush through it, but appreciate all the stages of growth we go through with love and compassion.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would take them to Discovery Green for a day at the park. We could workout, take pictures, eat at a nice restaurant nearby, maybe catch a live event or skate at the rink. I would also take them to True Food Kitchen, Planet Vegan, and Green Seed Vegan and maybe check out a few other vegan friendly restaurants around town. We would definitely go to a farmers market or two and cook a few meals at home as well! The Galleria Mall and going to dinner/drinks in River Oaks would also be a must. I’m sure we would find a cool event to go to because there is always something fun to do in Houston!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe all of the credit to God for any and all success I have. I also don’t know where I would be without the love and support of my granny, mom, niece’s, and a dear friend of mine. Lastly, I am so grateful for online mentors like Tabitha Brown, Jen Sincero, and so many other women and men who have poured into or encouraged me along the way.
